Our October's best:

Learn your craft. Much like the medical or law fi elds, acting and fi lmmaking require years of training and study of the craft. Always strive to learn more and perfect your craft. Take acting classes, attend seminars, involve yourself in community theater, read books, watch interviews with successful actors, and talk to working actors.

The director is the master storyteller of the movie with two primary jobs. The fi rst is to read the script and develop a strong mental image of how the movie will look, sound, and feel. By researching other movies, studying art, traveling, and reading, the director develops the style, pacing, and tone of the movie.

The second part of her job is to communicate her vision to the cast and crew during preproduction, production, and postproduction, helping direct the cast and crew’s artistic and technical skills. The ideal director knows exactly what he wants, is able to communicate clearly and effectively, and maintains a positive, creative environment for everyone involved.
